Geneva November 19 Fifty nations await Switzerland ratification of the opium treaty. The decision hinges on cantonal votes as 22 cantons and three half cantons consider the matter. Basel is described as the world’s largest opium den amid Basel factories and workers while the Swiss government bears responsibility for many thousands of workers and a broad treaty aim.
Atlanta reports fed erated club women plan to press for Armistice Day to be National Thanksgiving Day. A resolution by Mrs. J. B. Dozier of Athens, passed by the Atlanta Federation, argues the last Thursday has no historic link while November 11 marks a major event. It calls for state and General Federation support to promote the change nationwide.

ATLANTA November 9 The house committee reported favorably in amended form the Lankford income tax measure already passed by the senate. Key changes remove crediting ad valorem tax payments against income tax and vice versa and drop fixed exemptions to be set by a future legislature. The committee also favored the Russey bill for segregation of property.
Pound Hall, one of Gordon Institute's three dormitories in Barnesville, burned at 5 PM Sunday. About 100 students helped firefighters save surrounding buildings. Loss estimated at 10000 dollars with 7000 insured. Fire started on the second floor in rooms of 15 boys. dining hall on the lower floor. Defective wiring blamed. No injuries. Dormitory to be rebuilt on the same site.
In Guyton Georgia on November 19 two Black men were held as suspects in an attempted attack on a prominent citizen’s wife. One was arrested near Bloomindale and brought to town. the other remained in custody after a separate arrest near here.
The Loving depot on College Street was burglarized Saturday night between 10 and 12. A Ford axle entry, broken Yale lock, and tires matched to a car led to arrests of Robert Roberts, Hugo Thacker, and Jackson Baldwin. Baldwin confessed. Thacker and Roberts later admitted involvement. Bond set at 500 dollars. Baldwin released on 1 dollar bail.
Mrs. M. E. Taylor arrives from Huntington Indiana to spend a month with her mother Mrs. C. P. Payne on Lee street.

In Savannah on November 19 four sailors from two harbor loading vessels pleaded guilty to possessing whiskey and were fined ten dollars each by Judge Barrett. An interpreter was needed as the sailors could not understand the sentence. Named sailors included Asaf Knudsen Sjur Siete Heekin Ha aralson and Kenneth Hutchins.
