Old Wound To Cost Summer Soldier His Foot
Luke Forrest of near Americus, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Forrest, has returned to Fort McPherson after a four day furlough. A year ago in July he suffered an ankle wound from a German shell during the Marne battle while in the 161st Machine Gun Battalion Rainbow division. After nine surgical operations the wound will require amputation of the foot next Monday, with recovery expected soon after and plans to return home to farm.
