United States prohibition forces began a wholesale raid in eastern Pennsylvania to cut off beer supply. Reports from Philadelphia say 12 breweries were seized early today and about a dozen more would be padlocked before nightfall, flooding eastern regions with beer disruption.
An appeal urges Sumter County residents to eradicate malaria within two years at 25 cents per person per year. Williams and Allen Chappell attended, about 300 members joined dinner in the Woodmen ball, with Dawson band music. Col. R. R. Marlin presided. remarks came from Mrs. J. M. Chastine, Dr. H. B. Allen, and Judge Lee Hoyle.
In Atlanta on November 9 the Evangelistical Minister Association of Atlanta unanimously opposed displaying pocket flasks in Atlanta jewelry store windows and to the suggestion they be bought before football games. The draft resolution said such action harms law enforcement and the welfare of young men.

Despondency and ill health were factors in an apparent suicide attempt by R. A. Hartley in Macon. He took a small amount of strychnine at his Edgewood Avenue home and was rushed to Macon Hospital for treatment. He remains hospitalized but is reported not to be out of danger and is expected to recover.
Harvie Jordan of St Matthews South Carolina secretary of the American Cotton association told President Coolidge plans by Southern farmers to combat the boll weevil. The president reportedly pledged government cooperation.

Fulton county contributes 10000 dollars and subscriptions reach 13600 dollars, plus Central of Georgia railroad support.
New York Nov 9 cotton opened lower as European developments prompted a sharp drop of 60 to 100 points. After an extreme fall of 80 to 125 points the market recovered 40 to 50 points with heavy Wall Street and trading buying. January and March futures opened at 32.68 and 32.90 respectively.
County physician Dr Branham reports farmers and doctors purchase quinine daily to prevent malaria. Railroad leaders R L Cummins and L M Mills pledge to drain ponds and low spots along Sumter county right of way and in Sumter City to curb the disease, urging others to follow the example.
Arlington, Nov 9. Poultry farm dairy farm livestock farm and a pleasure resort will be under one management near Arlington. B A Garrett owner of Nances spring property south of Arlington plans the project with R E Taylor as manager. Initial stock includes 500 white leghorn hens 30 pure bred brood sows and 20 milking cows. A hotel will be erected on the property.
