Cotton contracts on the New York exchange rose sharply with January at 32.18 and March at 32.22 as new yearly highs. Active and inactive months climbed but later pulled back from peak amid heavy hedge selling. Closing was unsettled with modest losses of 30 to 33 points.
Henry P. Everett of the Americas and Sumter County Chamber of Commerce praises a pay up and trade up drive as the most successful promotion yet.
