In Paterson New Jersey on November 1 Vice President Garret A Hobart shows signs of decline. He slept most of the night under opiates and remains ailing with doctors near at hand. A bulletin at 1:10 PM noted he rested well but grew a trifle weaker. Messages from Bliss Alger Fairbanks Manley and General Gordon of Georgia expressed sympathy and inquiries. A separate Georgia bill advanced to elect the railroad commission by direct vote.
