English Ship Ardanmhor Captured Off Cuba and Brought to Key West

The British steamer Ardanmhor, capt Dana, was seized yesterday off Carysfort light for suspicious behavior while attempting to enter Havana harbor and is now in Key West under an American ensign. The Ardanchor, sailing from Guantanamo April 22 with 878 cattle for Havana, was turned back by the blockade and later reported to have been warned by the Cincinnati not to enter Cuban ports. The Ardanmhor, a 1338 ton vessel, has operated in cattle runs between Guantana and Havana for six months and was released this afternoon by Commodore Remey.

American Cruiser Captures Spanish Bark North of San Juan

In St. Thomas Danish West Indies on May 23 a British steamer reports an American cruiser seized a Spanish bark six miles north of San Juan on Saturday morning. The prize was towed north after the capture observed from San Juan. The Isabel II fired on the Roath at port, claims accidental fire. Freeman Halstead, jailed for photographs of fortifications, has been moved to a convict camp to serve nine years.

Washington May 24 The war department reports 108000 volunteers have sworn allegiance to the United States government.
