Cotton Export Financing Aims to Move 1920 Crop Abroad

Washington May 10. Ware Finance corporation and southern bankers returned from New York with plans to export practically all cotton held in southern warehouses. The War Finance Corporation would aid financing for exporters, easing credit for cotton paper and offering cash pay options to Europe, to resume global trade and restore the spindle industry.

Peach shipments from Americus by express steady at 105–106 crates

One hundred five crates of peaches shipped from Americus by express in 24 hours via American Salad Express Co. Methvin Farm led with 75 crates. Fifteen crates to Jacksonville and Tampa, 20 to Charleston, eight to Atlanta, 10 to Norfolk. Easterlin Brothers moved 16 to New Orleans and four to Bristol Tennessee. H Poole & Sons sent 11 to Atlanta. Macon reports 17 carloads moved out yesterday and last night.

Thos R McKenzie Dies At Montezuma

Word arrived that Thomas R. McKenzie, a prominent Montezuma planter and influential local figure, died at 7 a m after a long illness. He was about 58. Survived by his wife two sons and one daughter. His sister in law is Mrs S L Sills of Americus and he was a nephew of EL Murray. His first wife was a sister of Joel Hightower of Americus.
