Captives Held by Shantung Bandits Near Release

A late Thursday report from Shanghai states that all foreign captives held by Shantung bandits are to be released except Italian attorney Chevalier Musso. The note, from Tsao Chwang and signed by relief agent Naill, was addressed to the Asa Development company.

John Sheffield Heads Rotary Club in Americus

John Sheffield was elected president of the Americus Rotary Club at a luncheon in the Tea Room, succeeding Carl Clover. Death of Charlie T Williamson at Poulan

Passes at Poulan Home Plains May 4. Charlie T Williamson died in Poulan after spending most of his life in Sumter County. He was a longtime member of Concord Methodist church and lived with nieces Laura and Carrie Merritt and nephews Henry and Charlie Merritt. He was a son of Rev. Berry Merritt of Roberta.

Union Rail Shopmen Seek $50 Million Wage Increase

Wage increase demands totaling about 50 million dollars a year have been presented to three major rail lines, the Pittsburg and Lake Erie, Baltimore and Ohio, and New York Central. The request seeks a 30 cent an hour rise and will be carried to Washington for the railroad labor board. The move is supported by the American Federation of Labor through its railway employee division.

Special Mother's Day Program at First Methodist

Wille Marshall, superintendent, invites Methodists to attend next Sunday morning services. A special Mother's Day program will be held at the First Methodist Sunday School on May 13. Lewis heard cases bound over to the superior court including Frank Norris and L. Bush with W. Santee on prohibition charges, each $25. James Davis also charged with prohibition, $25. Vagrancy charges led to bonds for Alice Jordan Lulu Brown and Alfie Mitchell, each $30, and other negroes were bonded on gaming charges.
