A merchant invites business with promises of low prices and complete lines of underwear from cheap to fine. The seller notes products from top mills and displays negligee shirts, urging callers to visit or contact for interest.
A community column promotes Ice Tea and Ore Tea, with 5 lb bags for $2, and lists fresh produce like squash, tomatoes, Irish potatoes, cabbage, and onions at low prices. A boy sells turnips, but mother notes no one asks what’s in his bag.
Americus city authorities ordered the street railroad to remove rails crossties ground wires poles and related apparatus from the streets within thirty days or the city will do the work at the owners expense. The resolution cites the railway’s cessation of operation failure to repair and nuisance condition and directs the city engineer to proceed if work is not started by owners. The measure includes cost accounting and publication in a local newspaper.

Carlyle Harris, condemned for the 1900 marriage tragedy, faced execution at Sing Sing. Witnesses included officials from New York and Buffalo as the chair’s seven teen thousand volt current caused instantaneous death. Harris proclaimed innocence. he was 24 and from a respected family. He had earlier furnished quinine and morphine capsules to Helen Potts, leading to her death and his subsequent trial.
In New York on May 6 reports say the Hollina plan for the Central of Georgia faces strong opposition to Comer as receiver. It is suggested that C H Phinlzy of Augusta Georgia may maneuver for both sides.
