Five Arrests Reported As Veterans Group Circulates Circular

Havana reports say a circulating circular titled National Association of Veterans and Patriots claims action is imminent. Dr Oscar Soto and four leaders were arrested Tuesday as the movement began. President Zayas, back from Santa Clara, predicts the outbreak there will end in days. He cites bands near Cienfuegos and Trinidad in Santa Clara province, with groups of 100 and 15 to 20 men.

Ocala Florida May 5 on a federal government request Sheriff Thomas of Marion county arrested three Cubans who came here to learn flying from the aviation squadron stationed in Ocala for five weeks. The men are jailed and their names are being withheld.

At the High School auditorium Monday Miss Eunice Austin's second year English class presented an Olympian council pageant. Unusual golden catfish caught in Muckalee Creek

Hearon reports catching a three pound fish described as a golden catfish in Muckalee Creek near the Dixie Highway bridge. The fish was transparent with visible bones and white eyes, a dark red streak along its back. The fish was exhibited to observers and sent to The Times-Recorder for display.

Sanford Haupt dies from accidental self inflicted gunshot

Savannah May 5. H Sanford Haupt, a well known real estate agent and collector, died at a sanitarium two hours after a bullet wound to the head. He was cleaning a rifle when he shot himself in the forehead.

Macon Detectives Round Up Priest Gangsters

Macon detectives say they have captured a gang of burglars tied to several local robberies. Luther Duckworth a New York man 23 was accused of pawn shop burglary and two other crimes. A pistol was found in a chimney. Clarence Johns 16 faced two burglary charges after being arrested during the roundup.

Berlin May 5. Provision list of deputies chosen by the Reichstag from yesterday's German election shows a coalition of moderates socialists democrats clericals and the people's party with 229 seats. It exceeds by 10 the combined total of other parties already reported from returns received at 3 o'clock today.

Revenue Agent Assigned to Atlanta Secretary of State Office

The Georgia revenue department placed a revenue agent in the secretary of state's automobile license department to collect the 29 percent penalty on delinquent license tag buyers. Commissioner John M. Vandiver seeks a ruling on authority to assign staff to collect the penalty from all cash tag purchasers, with deputy Grover Bell handling the 20 percent portion. Delinquency applies to buyers who recently purchased a car or driven it little. those with new cars or unused garages are not charged.

Quinine Capsules Boost Malaria Fight in Sumter County

Thousands of quinine capsules have been sold in Sumter County over the past week as health officials lead a campaign to stamp out malaria. Road conditions between Americus and Savannah noted with a 25 mile stretch lacking improvements between Statesboro and Savannah. The motor trip was enjoyable and the convention profitable.

Hooded Klansmen Leave Note and $15 in Leesburg Church

Eleven men in Ku Klux Klan robes entered a Leesburg Baptist church after services, marched to the aisle, and left a note with $15 for the pastor. The message claimed full Klan sympathy with Christianity in efforts of humanity.

Relief Legislation to Be Pushed in Senate After Bills

Washington May 5 Senate leaders moved farm relief legislation to the head of the calendar after tax and appropriation bills. An order to speed the program was issued with an aim to adjourn before the Cleveland convention and night sessions are to begin starting tomorrow.

In Macon on May 5 twenty cases arising from the lynching of John Cockey Glover in July 1923 were placed on the April term Bible Superior Court calendar. Defendants facing rioting unlawful assembly and carrying concealed weapons charges include N. Funeral for Frank M. Andrews in East Forsyth

Friends attended the funeral Sunday afternoon for Frank M. Andrews 62 who died after a stroke at his East Forsyth Street home. Creamery Machinery Arrives for Sumter County Plant

Machinery for the Americus creamery is arriving and being installed in the C M Council block on Cotton Avenue. A boiler, refrigeration tank, and a large churn have been placed, with a modern sterile system planned for the plant. I B Wilson will manage, handling cream from Sumter and neighboring counties, with output likely sold through a single broker. Butter will be the sole product, though the Americus Ice Cream company will share the building under identical management. Farmers are preparing to supply cream, hoping for cash payments and regular checks as shipments begin.
