D T Jennings, a well known Americas man, was shot and wounded in the back yard of R P Ewing at 217 Brown Street in dense darkness. The double barreled shotgun fired only No. 5 shot, leaving Jennings to seek help on Brown Street. Ewing expressed deep regret and said he did not recognize his neighbor during the shooting.
