Evans given bail of 000 by the court over the April 13 killing of John J. Griffin after a tavern dispute. The defendant admitted death resulted from his own action following a keg drink and a pistol confrontation in Griffin’s room. Witnesses described blows and a struggle as Griffin sought a doctor.
