Rylander Secures New Paramounts for Local Theater

Rylander theater opens a new Paramount Pictures contract starting Thursday with Marion Davies in When Knighthood Was in Flower. Americus Banks to Close Thursdays at Noon

Death of W A Dodson Baffles Georgia Nation in Special Town

William A Dodson a prominent Georgia lawyer aged 59 was found dead in his home bathroom in Americus this morning from natural causes likely a paralytic stroke. He served in state legislature and as senator, authored the Dodson insurance act, and helped establish gas and electric service. Survived by widow Mrs Martha Lewis Dodson two daughters Georgia B Dodson and Mrs Augustus Sparks a son William A Dodson Jr and a grandson Jn Sparks along with brother J G Dodson. Funeral at 3:30 pm Thursday at South Lee street with Rev James B Lawrence officiating Oak Grove cemetery burial. He was born May 12 1864 in Marion County and educated at the University of Georgia class of 1882.

Thief Steals Orchard in Night in California

Fred ent of Goshen reported the theft of an orchard containing sixty trees in the night. He said the thief wore sacks over his feet to erase tracks and that the trees had been ripped from the ground.

Stores Close At 1 On Thursday Holiday Opening Of 1923 Pool

Fishing rods and bathing suits were being patched today as merchants prep for Thursday’s half holiday. A Times-Recorder call urged all stores to close at 1 pm so staff can head to ponds and the waters open at 3 pm for the 1923 season. The city pool at the playgrounds has been cleaned and painted. Rotary club moves luncheon to Wednesday to allow members to depart for golf and sports.

Peggy Lanier alimony trial resumes in Macon

In Macon on May 2 the alimony suit of Mrs. Peggy Lanier against Sidney Lanier resumed. Dr J D Lanier, the father, testified as Attourney Hatcher sought to show a belligerent attitude between him and Mrs Lanier's attorney. Young Lanier then described events leading to his marriage.

Young couple burned to death in Alabama fire

Gadsden May 2 Knott Little 23 and his bride of three months perished when their Ohatchee area home burned last night. The charred bodies were found on bed springs, suggesting they died in their sleep. Neighbors who found the blaze could not wake them.
