Mail theft charged to Macon Post Office employee

Macon March 29 W B F Anderson foreman of the special delivery department at the Macon post office was arrested by postoffice inspectors after allegedly opening a letter and taking money. He was held on $1000 bond after a hearing before United States Commissioner W E Martin. Anderson, a twenty year employee, was dismissed by Postmaster Emmett Small following the report.

W L Crapps Falls From Ladder Tuesday

While painting the J. J. Hanesley building on Lamar street W L Crapps was seriously injured in a fall from a ladder. A broken rib and other bruises confined him to his home at 912 Elmore street though the injury is not considered life threatening.

Ida Hargett and Walter B Marley Wed in Columbus

Miss Ida Hargett and Mr. Walter B Marley of Columbus were married yesterday at 1 30 PM at 2906 Second Avenue. Rev A H Sheppard performed the ceremony before a small gathering of friends. They plan to make Columbus their future home.

Soil prison helps 65 reforming women at Sonoma state farm

In Sonoma California 65 former women of the underworld are housed at a state reform farm where no guards or bars, only outdoor life and gardens, are used to foster rehabilitation. Burglary Reported in Columbus Home

Mrs. Ed Walsh of 508 Thirteenth street told police Saturday night entry was gained through a kitchen window. About $50 in cash a revolver a clock and several other household articles were taken. No suspect identified by this afternoon.

Four Labor Agents Nabbed In Athens For Transporting Labor

Four men described as labor agents were arrested in Athens after a night in Clarke County jail. Three white men and one black man claimed to be North Carolina farmers and denied the charges. Police found twelve Negro laborers in their care, intended for farm work in another section.

Prosecution Rest in Herrin Riots Trial After 32 Witnesses

In Marion Illinois on March 29 the prosecution in the second Herrin riots trial rested after calling 32 witnesses since March 5. The defense began its case with Donald Ewing, an Associated Press reporter from Chicago, recounting his visit to Herrin where he saw six riot victims in the road and noted Bert Grace prevented giving a wounded man a drink.

Macon, March 29. The clothing store of C. H. Hunnicutt Company was entered by robbers early today and between 1500 and 2000 dollars worth of suits overcoats and other apparel were carried away according to a report from the office.

Six United States army aviators on a test flight from Texas to Porto Rico and return to Washington left Havana this morning at 9 15 for Miami. They expected to make the trip to Washington by easy daily hops likely arriving there early next week.

The body of Sarah Bernhardt was interred in Pere LaChaise Cemetery Paris this afternoon after a simple service at St Francois Desales and a solemn procession through crowded streets. The funeral followed a period of mourning and public attendance by mourners.

Freeport Ill March 29 Two persons were killed and three injured when an Acetylene gas plant exploded at the farm home of William Wrenicke five miles north of Lena Illinois. Mrs Wrenicke a four year old son two other family members and a third man were injured.

Harris withdraws from Daughters bid for VP post

Washington March 29 Amid full interest in the D A R annual congress to be held April 16 to 21 a three cornered race for president general unfolds. Peach county supporters argued that irregularities marred the Peach county election. Judge Jones restricted Jule Felton and Sam Nunn from contesting Houser's refusal to call an election for justice of the peace.
