A congressional tour near Florence Alabama learned it would cost about half a million dollars to blow the uncompleted Wilson dam and block river traffic. Col. Barden, Florence district chief engineer, outlined the cost as committees studied Dam No 2 and the proposed Dam No 3 site as Muscle Shoals development and private disposal offers were reviewed.

Will of Rich Ex Albany Man Draws Wide Interest
The late J. B. Farnum of Charleston, a former Georgian, left bequests to relatives in Albany and Dawson Georgia. The New Albany hotel was the main Georgia property, with about 70 percent to sister Mrs. Willie C. Wilson of Dawson, remainder to Mrs. W. R. Baldwin of Albany. Wilson’s share is life interest, then split between her daughter Mrs. Guy Chappell and Mrs. E. B. Young. Sister Mrs. C. J. Whitehead of Albany and daughter Mrs. John J. Daley of Boston received business blocks in Albany. Sister-in-law Mrs. Lillie Farnum Metcalf got $5,000. numerous other bequests ranged $1,000 to $3,000. The three sisters Baldwin, Wilson, Whitehead share a $10,000 charity fund. Remainder, likely about a million, goes to widow Mrs. Clara Farnum of Charleston, executrix.

Shine Plant Found On Flint River Isle Albany
Raiding parties from the sheriff office located a hidden shine plant on a four mile distant island north of Albany power dam after approaching by canoes. A 55 gallon copper still on a brick furnace was found with barrels of bee placed on a platform to avoid rising water.

Negroes to Have Section at Ty Cobb Game
A large reserved seating area for African American spectators will be set aside at the Ty Cobb Detroit Rochester game on April 4 at the Play grounds. Bradley Hogg and Lovelace Eve announced ticket pricing with 50 cent seats behind home plate and 25 cent seats along base lines, plus 1,175 reserved and 1,500 bench seats. Court suspensions were arranged to avoid interference with attendance, as Judge Littlejohn plans to attend the game. Tickets will go on sale in Americus soon.
