Minister Struck by Bandits in Winatow County

D A Stratton of Elmott Texas, a Christian order minister, was traveling through Winatow County when a gang on horseback raided his party. They tied up the papers, robbed him of a gold watch and money, and left him without clothes. He was forced to walk and later reported the incident to authorities. The assailants warned him to leave the area and attempted to hang him with reins during the confrontation.
