Mob Hangs Murderer After Delayed Troop Arrival

In Crystal Springs on June 25 a mob of about 400 seized Toha M. Brosea who killed an elderly man named Strong. With no troops due to Jackson, the mob strung him to a tree and tied a rope as earlier others were whipped and punished for alleged blasphemy. The mob then hunted a local preacher who swore Brosea innocent, whipping him for swearing. By press time the mob had dispersed and farmers returned home.

Senate Deliberates on Hale Resolution and Wool Schedule

The Senate resumed consideration of the wool schedule at paragraph 37 covering axminster and chenille carpets. Rep. Hale’s measure to limit ex senators on the floor was referred to rules. A motion to strike out the rate failed 84 to 17 as quorum issues delayed results and debate turned to the country’s distress.

Tornado Strikes Parsons Missouri Causing Extensive Damage

A tornado hit Parsons Missouri on June 25 damaging the kiln plant blacksmith shops and the Rich Hill Canning factory. The brick block of the Cowles property and several churches were wrecked while the Memphis route roundhouse and freight yards suffered total destruction. No deaths though workers suffered injuries and crops sustained extensive losses.

Woman shoots husband in Fayette county shooting incident

Othan Jones, a Fayette county leader, is fatally wounded at home about 25 miles from the city after his wife, Mrs Jones, fired a shotgun in what she says was self defense amid alleged mistreatment. Jones, a former state legislator, died from his injuries.
