Work of Two Robbers Tortures Aged Pensioner and Wife

In Shelmville Indiana June 22 Milton Rolley an elderly pensioner and his wife were attacked on returning home from town where he had drawn 600 dollars to pay the balance on his house. Two men beat him then tortured his wife. Rolley was left unconscious with four broken ribs and the robbers rifled pockets finding 570 dollars hidden under the parlor carpet. Rolley is likely to die and the wife’s condition is grave. Bloodhounds are being considered to aid pursuit.

Wreck in Vermont claims two lives near Montpelier

Two men were killed and three injured in a rear end collision on the Central Vermont railroad near Montpelier. The crash involved a cattle train and a Montreal express, killing J. B. Seskin of Chicago and Edward Brown of Janesville, Wisconsin who were in charge of cattle cars and asleep in a caboose.
