Road closure and rail removal in Americus city

The Thomson-Houston Company plans to remove rails wires and other street railway apparatus within thirty days under a city council order. The process begins Monday the 26th and will erase the road from the streets. Public sentiment favored keeping the line but efforts to reorganize failed. A New York capitalist has offered to fund the required 15000 dollars with local support. Citizens are urged to raise the amount to keep the road locally operated.

Surrounded Robbers Near Cherokee Strip Raid

News reports that the train robbers who held up the Santa Fe near Cimarron were surrounded near Whitehead Station in the Cherokee Strip by U S cavalry.
