Transfer seals Americus control of Albany line
The Savannah Americus and Montgomery railway has leased the Albany Florida and Northern railway from Albany to Cordele, giving Americus control for ninety nine years. The lease shifts operations, with through rates and rolling stock shared, and central offices consolidated in Americus. The deal boosts S A M prospects and sets Americus up for a major terminal investment in Albany. The paper notes expected strong traffic growth in 1901 and invites Albany visitors on a special Americas train.
