Clearwater Fla June 11 a mistrial was ordered in the murder of his mother case after jurors failed to reach agreement. Judge McMullen noted the jury had the case since yesterday and another murder indictment against McDowell exists along with several minor charges.
Paris June 11 President Millerand resigns after a presidential message and a radical socialist backed motion that rejects a government not in line with parliamentary rights. The chamber 329 to 214 adopts the measure and the senate 154 to 114 opposes interpellation. Left hopes for Painleve or Doumergue, senate president next in line.
Washington June 11 The Ford Motor Company is declared by the Supreme Court not to infringe Harmatta patent on electric welding of thin iron and steel sheets. The decision settles a long running dispute over manufacturing techniques used in auto bodies.
Film fans praise Lillian Gishs The White Sister at Rylander private screening. Navy veterans recalled Italy locations and many attendees planned a second viewing Thursday or Friday as a romantic tale and picturesque scenes delighted the crowd.
TOKIO June 11 Viscount Kijuisro Ishii who negotiated the Lansing Ishii agreement is to succeed Masanao Hanihara as ambassador to the United States it is indicated on reliable authority.
The Warwick power site on Flint River near Americus will not be developed at this time unless Cordele interests decide to proceed without Americus money. The Americus and Sumter County Chamber of Commerce directors decided against participation after a thorough study of cost and probable demand. A committee led by J T Warren examined engineering, overflow, and distribution prospects before recommending no immediate action. The board remains open to future activity if a profitable market for electric energy emerges.
Plains June 11 revival services fill the Methodist church with strong messages from Pastor Rev. O L Evans at morning and evening sessions. Special services are set for the week. Noon services Monday and Tuesday are filled by visiting pastors Rev. J E Hall and Rev. C A Philips due to the unavoidable absence of the pastor. The meeting will continue for several days.
David Ladd Rockwell, campaign manager for William G McAdoo, says Governor Smiths letter supporting Volstead revision places him with wets and contrasts McAdoos dry stance. He adds both men share similar attitudes toward the Ku Klux Klan.
Women voters of Sumter county are invited to a Friday 10am meeting in the Wind sor Hotel parlors. Sponsored by Mrs H O Jones Mrs F L Cato Mrs Stephen Pace Miss Evelyn Crew Mrs J D Hooks Mrs R E Hearn Mrs H L Mc Kee and Mrs E L Carswell. Leslie June 11. Mr and Mrs D V Smith lose their home near Leslie to a Monday afternoon fire. The building was near destruction before discovery by overseer Ed Blackman while the Smiths were away on business. Loss estimated at about 3000 with little insurance.
Sparta June 11 The Sparta Parent Teacher Association presents its annual report detailing improvements in the local school since its founding. Officers elected for the coming year are Mrs Dennis T Turner president Mrs C G Jernigan vice president and Mrs H R Garrett secretary.
Nine prohibition agents including the chief and raids director were arrested and jailed after police raided an apartment where liquor was found. The agents call it a frame up while police say the group, consisting of seven women and two men, were participating in the party.
Atlanta June 11 Dr L G Hardeman of Commerce signals near announcement for governor with friends predicting entry within days. At present Governor Walker and H H Elders of Tatnall are the only declared candidates.

At Cleveland June 11 the Republican convention began with routine preliminaries as platform committee debates continued. Nominations for president and vice president occur tomorrow amid jockeying for second place while Hoover and other boosters lead. The tentative platform favors loyal public service prosecutions, farm profit parity via tax cuts, steady employment, and immigration quotas but omits Japanese exclusion and does not mention prohibition.
Dr. Albert C. Primrose of Baltimore arrives in Americus to join Dr. W. S. Prather in general medicine. A Johns Hopkins graduate class of 1920, Primrose will specialize in gynecology and blood diseases, leasing a home on Southee Street and opening an office in the Y M C A building. He will assist Prather immediately.
Valdosta June 11 Ten and a quarter pounds and pulled like a bucking bronco was the comment of L T Price of the Ocean Pond clubhouse regarding his recent catch. The fish was one of the largest taken from the pond in some time and was a beautiful specimen.
Atlanta June 11 Failure in school this year was halved and the cost of educating each pupil dropped from $45.16 to $44, according to Superintendent Willis A. Sutton after compiling reports from all department branches. Eight percent of pupils failed in one or more subjects. Last year 11 percent failed, year before 22, and the year before that 24.
Epps Brown resigns as president to become chairman of the board of Southern Bell. Ben S. Read, former Mountain States Telephone leader, is elected to succeed Brown as president of Southern Bell. Cumberland company directors have not yet acted. Changes take effect after logistical work. Brown cites health recovery and wish to devote effort to family and company. He will chair the Southern Bell board and continue influence in the Bell System.
Albany golfers join Americus in an 18 hole match on Thursday at Americus Golf Club. Each side fields an eight man team with a 2:30 start time. A large crowd is expected as rivalry grows after a club bulletin opened second team eligibility to challenge first team members.
