Woman Shot and Killed by Two Negroes in Alabama

Bindiyonam Alabama June 6 Mrs R H Hubbard a prosperous Bibb County farmer was shot and killed by two discharged workers Will and Alex Hill at a Memphis and Charleston Railroad station. Hubbard wounded in defense as the wife reportedly shot first. Will Hill captured near Blocton. a lynching is feared as authorities pursue Alex Hill toward Centerville.

Majority rule favored in Savannah grand jury charge

In Savannah on June 1 Judge Robert L. Falligant told the grand jury he favors majority rule in petit juries. He noted delays from hung juries, cited other states where the plan worked, and said Georgia could adopt it. He defended attorneys for their efforts on behalf of clients.

Dewey Sails for Home No Dettion on the Adm Departure From Hong-Kong

The United States cruiser Olympia with Admiral Dewey aboard left Homa Harbor at 4 pm under foul weather. Consul Wildman stayed aboard with a few friends as the admiral bid farewell. The ship hoisted a large admiral’s flag and set off with a marine guard on deck.

Colonel Robert F. Maddox, president of Maddox & Rucker Banking Co., died at his Atlanta home after months of illness. Detroit street railways to be municipally owned

The Detroit street railway commission will present two ordinances to the common council. One creates bonds for a Municipal Street Railway to purchase the Metropolitan Street Railway and consolidate lines. The other grants a franchise to operate all city lines at five cents per ride or six rides for 26 cents with a fallback if payments fail.
