Georgia farmers urged to oppose 70 million road bond
Atlanta July 31. Georgia farmers urged to oppose a proposed 70 million road bond issue. George Sands of Arkansas Farmers Union calls the bond plan a curse, arguing it shifts the burden to farmers. Marvin Amorous of Marietta says the issue would finance 3,000 to 5,000 miles of paved roads at high cost, while current income could fund 4,500 to 7,500 miles. He notes Georgia already has 91,000 miles laid out and questions how to pave the remaining 86,000. Settlement roads prioritized over highways.
