Four Africans Hanged At Same Gallows In Coffin Room

Four men Cornelius Gardner John Miners Charles James and Joseph Bryan were executed by hanging in the jailyard at Bardimonte Ituly on July 24 for crimes including criminally assaulting Annie Bailey and the murder of Mary Pack Bryan admitted the killing after a quarrel and a knife threat but testified he was drunk jury returned first degree murder verdict after brief deliberation and the others were executed simultaneously with the necks breaking instantly while Gardner lingered briefly after the fall.
