Big Theater Fire Sparks Stampede at Ramonia Park

A July 24 blaze at the Casino summer theater in Ramonia park caused a panicked rush as about 600 spectators fled after a fireworks on stage started the tar paper roof burning. Ed G Bourne's company performed The Streets of New York to a crowd of women and children, with many injured while trying to escape and several seriously burned. A partial list of the most seriously burned includes Ed G Bourne, O O Rose, Mra Brantley, RR Rowland, Miss Ora Clark, Fred Hammel's children, A O Einstein, Miss Grigsby, Fred Schroeder, Henry Kellar, John Bying, George O Wallace and family, Mrs Lehr and ten children, Mra Gregory and daughter, Miss Bleich, and Hal Waters.
