Georgia legislature tightens dog law amid debates

In Atlanta on July 22 the Georgia legislature reconsidered Fleming's dog law by a 98 to 58 vote and referred it back for perfection. Other bills discussed include a fraud statute for swindlers and a measure to penalize laborers who do not receive due wages. The Capers Dickson nomination as Newton County judge was confirmed 36 to 4, while a rail commission bill and usury titles reform were debated.

Georgia farmer mocks hard looking crowd at Americus rally

An old Georgia farmer in homespun attended the alliance rally at Americus, Ga. When told the speakers were Jerry Simpson, General Weaver and Colonel Post, he remarked that he had seen many hard looking folks but never such a crowd before, delivering a wry jab at the gathering as reported by the Chicago Inter Ocean via the Americus pick up.
