Political fever grips Sumter as campaigns heat up

Lumpkin Democrats organize large club to boost campaign

Luxuriy Ga July 18 Special Lumpkin democrats met at the courthouse and formed The Lumpkin Democratic Club electing M. L. Everett as president and a full executive slate. About fifty members signed on at once and organizers plan district-wide clubs to counter the third party effort in November.

Price Drill decides winner in Americus Light Infantry

Ed Haynes won the prize drill and now wears the gold badge, after a close contest where Sergt. Charlie Van Tuper and Van Riper also ran. The event followed by Motion Court adjournment and notes on the depot plumbing contract awarded to Harris Payne.
