A Tehran mob brutally beat and killed Vice Consul Robt Imbrie and severely injured Melin Seymour. The two Americans were watching a religious demonstration when mistaken for Bahias. Imbrie died from shock after the assault. Seymour remains in serious condition.
Washington reports that Senator Burton K Wheeler of Montana agreed to run as vice president on the Progressive ticket headed by Senator Robert M La Follette. Wheeler, noted for his role in the Daugherty investigation, reversed an earlier refusal after pressure from La Follette and aides.
London July 19 British officials confirm the death of Major Robert Imbre American vice consul in charge of Tehran Persia. He was attacked by a fanatical mob yesterday morning while photographing the public. Continued on page five.
County farm demonstration agent George O. Marshall advocates permanent pastures to boost cream yields and invites farmers to two demonstrations. The first at J. H. Meyers farm on the Dawson road near Americus Croxton's Store with Dallas grass pasture, starting at 9 AM. The second at George Derisco’s near Leslie at 11 AM. Experts from Central of Georgia rail line will explain pasture management for cream production.
Montezuma July 19 Rev George Matthews pastor of First Methodist Marshallville and brother of Judge H A Matthews of Macon dozed off while driving on the turnpike near Flint River. The auto plunged down a 15 foot embankment and overturned but Rev Matthews escaped injury while the machine was wrecked.
Miss Carrie McCallum of Jeffersonville was brought to a Macon hospital after a car driven by her brother struck a telephone pole near her home. He suffered severe bruises but is not believed to be seriously hurt.
Atlanta July 19 The biennial sessions bill, seen as the year's top measure, faces final floor action within days with 58 of 206 members on record in favor. The voting pattern mirrors 1922 when 143 favored the bill, 38 opposed, and 26 were absent. Names of several supporters from the 1922 list are noted. Holden advocates.
Clem L. Shaver, West Virginia lawyer and stock raiser, was named chairman of the Democratic National Committee and campaign manager for John W. Davis. The appointment followed Davis’s insistence that his longtime ally should receive the post after weeks of meetings and debates among Democrats.
MELDRIM July 19 Engineer George Bell who pilots the Central of Georgia engine between Egypt and Savannah killed nine wild turkeys over a few days while passing Meldrim three miles from Savannah. He could have added six more notches in the boiler today.
The inter-Allied conference in London faces friction between French and British lines on handling German defaults under the Dawes reparations plan. An attempt to settle the core differences failed, but negotiators hope for a compromise. A weekend lull follows as delegates attend the Wembley exposition and other visits.
London July 19. The committee of interested conference in charge of sanitations in the event of Germany's default over the Dawes scheme unanimously agreed to insure investors in a loan to Germany of priority on all German resources if Germany defaults.
Oklahoma City July 19 The Ku Klux Klan has become the major political issue in Oklahoma as impeached Governor Walton leads the anti faction in a bitter bid for the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate. Walton declares he was railroaded from the governorship and crucified on a fiery cross. He has built broad support across the state, addressing large audiences at curbstone gatherings and mobilizing anti-Klan sentiment ahead of the upcoming primaries.

In Lisbon last night eight persons were killed and several wounded in a shooting affray between republican guard soldiers and police. The capital is stirred and a close censorship is in effect as authorities fear higher fatalities once full details emerge.
About 100 miners armed attacked non-union workers at the Kali Inia coal mine near Cambria Oklahoma. Guards were disarmed and escorted by assailants as they moved toward Latimer county. Wires to Cambria cut. no injuries reported initially. The attack is believed to involve miners from Texas fields Henriet ta and nearby areas. Latimer County sheriff and deputies rushed to the scene. The march appeared carefully planned.
The Kiwanis luncheon debated a possible Americus cannery and formed a plan to build a three member committee with Rotary and Chamber of Commerce backing. W M Jones urged careful analysis due to past issues with Georgia peaches. G O Loving pledged at least $1000 for a sound project to save the surplus peach crop and profit growers. Continued on Page 3.
Five persons died when their automobile broke through a bridge near Buena Vista Colorado late last night and plunged 50 feet into the Arkansas River.
Meridian Mississippi July 19 4 Harry Shelton a Black man died after being taken from a Scooba jail and carried about four miles by lynchers in a related incident authorities reported. The event occurred last night and local officials were investigating the mob action.
