Washington reports moderate to warm temperatures across the cotton belt with light to heavy rainfall in spots. Georgia shows mostly dry, hot nights and improving crops, but weevil damage remains substantial in areas not using poison as the weed feed intensifies.
Frank E. Mathews returns from Pelham where he attended the Southwest Georgia convention of Regional Presidents of B. Y. P. U. The meeting aimed at rallying the division and discussing issues of interest to Southwest Georgia and plans for the great event.
telegram from Leslie M. O Connor, secretary to Judge Landis, confirms Bloodworth listed as ineligible on the Columbia 1928 reserve list. The note directs inquiries to J H Farrell at the National Association in Auburn, N Y. The report mirrors Joe Jackson’s case, suggesting Bloodworth may be barred if the former cannot play.
Rail roads and public utilities in Georgia plan to operate automobile bus lines. Representative Perkins of Muscogee says a bill would legalize such operation, citing better highways and planned improvements. The Georgia port commission abolition bill by Clark and New of Laurens was adversely reported by the general agricultural committee.

Macon July 18. S R Young of Union Point Ga engineer on the Georgia Railroad between Macon and Augusta and Flournoy Will of August Negro brakeman were scalded last night when the boiler of a Georgia engine exploded between Lakeside and Mogul. The three men were knocked down and sustained head lacerations. they were taken to Macon hospital, treated, and released after dressing.

M. A. York, former Americus resident, filed a bankruptcy petition in Valdosta US court where he has lived for months. Creditors in the area were notified of an order setting aside exemptions claimed by the bankrupt and objections were raised.
Fire at the Erie terminal freight office in Jersey City destroyed the two and a half story structure and spread to the grain elevator and roundhouse. Three employees arriving for their shifts reported the blaze as flames cut off access. Firemen fought with low water pressure as the roundhouse and grain elevator were badly damaged but saved.
Evangelist Raymond T. Richey leads a revival at the auditorium as 1200 attendees, including 80 seeking bodily healing, hear Attorney General George M. Napier greet Governor Walker's representatives. Napier calls Richey an humble ambassador of the Saviour and notes the renewed spiritual power in the city.
