Two Strange Accidents Leave One Dead in Wheatley Bottom
Saturday night two unexplained incidents befall black men near Americus. Sim Dean, found fatally injured in the Wheatley bottom, possibly from a fall or collision, died Monday. Gene Dixon, hurt on Scarborough hill, was found unconscious from a head blow but has since recovered enough to rise. Patterson recalls Dean sitting in the road before the tragedy. Dr. Stokes found no additional injuries suggesting violence beyond the head wound.
