Seventeenth District Notes From Our Regular Correspondent

Seventeenth District reports include Rev Mason conducting prolonged services at Hebron this week and a well attended barbecue at Williams pavilion despite bad weather. Americas band provided music for the dancers as Misses Mittie Collins Ellie Wiggins visit Dawson. Numerous locals visit Magnolia Springs and hosts in Americus and Dawson are noted among guests and returning residents.

Two Deaths in Plains Honor Respected Citizens J W Law and J Lansford

In Plains Georgia on July 14 Special report chronicles the deaths of two esteemed locals Messrs J W Law and Joseph Lansford who passed last night the 13th age sixty and ten each. Law was a Primitive Baptist member and Lansford a Methodist. Both lived long useful lives and are remembered for their service to the community.

Plains cotton sold out at Plains warehouse in Georgia

Plains, Ga dated July 14 reports the Plains warehouse sold all on hand at 12 1 8 cents per pound, netting a little over 60 dollars per bale. The 320 bale lot brought between 19 and 20 thousand dollars. Notables receiving bales include Dr. B. T. Wise with 258 bales, Dr. George H. Harber with 30, D. S. Derrick 17, Oliver McDonald Co. 18, and Timmerran Wise 2.

Ellaville Georgia July 14. Miss Martha Davis of Woodbury is the guest of her sister Mrs W E Crane. Mr Robert Brown of Boston is the guest of relatives here. Mr and Mrs Olin Dixon of Americus are spending this week in Ellaville. Miss Martha Baldwin will leave Friday for Atlanta to spend two or three weeks. Miss Velma Frank Williams will leave this week to visit her grandparents in Columbus. Mrs J G Dodson of Americus is the guest of Mrs H C Davis. Little Miss Loraine Lester of Montezuma is with her aunt Mrs T & Colins. Mrs P F Dixon is critically ill at home here. Mrs J R Jordan is visiting relatives in Buena Vista. Mr and Mrs M L Shealy and Mrs Ed Derrick are visiting Mr E S Baldwin. Miss Annie Williams of Americus is the attractive little guest of Miss Dorothy Cheney. Miss Elizabeth Crane of Buena Vista is with her sister Mrs E P Jordan this week. Mr Lucius Dixon of LaCrosse is spending a few days in Ellaville. Mrs E W Strange and children will leave soon to spend at Chalybeate Springs. Mr Edwards McCrory spent Sunday with his parents here. Mr Asa Royal and Col C R McCrory left Monday for Atlanta.

Williams Cross Roads Barbecue Attracts Modest Crowd

In Williams Cross Roads on July 14 improvements and fine crops are noted as near time for harvest. A barbecue at the Williams pavilion drew a smaller crowd due to weather but was enjoyed. Death of John Law at Williams Cross Roads

Special to Times-Recorder reports the death of John Law at Williams Cross Roads on a July night from paralysis. The elderly resident had appeared well earlier in the day, then suffered a sudden stroke and died within minutes. He had long lived in the Seventeenth district.
