The second day of the fourteenth international Christian Endeavor convention opened with ideal weather. Thousands attended early prayer meetings starting at 6 30 a m, with an estimated 20 000 people filling churches and streets. Sessions in Mechanic's Hall and the tents Williston and Endeavor featured reports, banners, and international speakers from London Sydney Belfast and Montreal. The day saw open debates on Endeavor topics and a popular address by President E A Turner urging social and political betterment.

Abducting Her Daughter Leads to Arrest in Kentucky
In Barsounville Kentucky on July 13 Mrs Nancy Spurlock caused the arrest of T B Brown who now resides on Smoky Creek charging him with abducting her 7 year old daughter. At the time of the arrest several small girls were noticed about Brown's home. Brown is an unmarried man. Prise for the Champion Saddle Horse. St Louis July 12 The St Louis Fair Association offers a stake of 1250 dollars for the champion saddle horse of America to be contested at the fair in October.

Great Wheel Racing Highlights at Osedon Show

Peter Winter, 65, a respected farmer, confessed to killing Charles Butler in a dispute over pay in cider. After a confrontation at Butler’s home, Winter forced him into a phaeton with Mrs Callahan, and Butler died from chest injuries. Witnesses differ on whether a hickory stick or an iron bar caused the blows. Winter and his wife attempted revival before transporting the body to Butler’s home.
