STATE LEGISLATURE IN SESSION AND BILLS DISCUSSED

Atlanta July 11 The Georgia Senate advanced routine business while the House received two invitations, one to Piedmont Chautauqua and another to a Piedmont park rally. A bill to regulate freight rates was amended to fix its caption, and a new drunk driving penalty bill was introduced. Several measures were read a second time as committees reported.

Runaway enticement case ends with return of Eva Hargrove

Eva Hargrove, allegedly enticed away by Turner, is safe at her father's home in Tifton after a Birmingham stopover. Turner's capture is pursued as details emerge of the assault in Birmingham. Separate notice reports the death of Mrs. Ella Argue in Americus after paralysis and brain congestion, her funeral to be held with A&M attendance, and tributes to a devoted Presbyterian family.

Still More Changes in Central Railroad Divisions

Rumors of sweeping reorganizations pervade the Central railroad system as officials are said to depart or be reassigned. W W Starr may become superintendent of the main stem division, Morse to Columbus, Dill to be dropped, and Curran and McKenzie reassigned amid broader consolidation across Savannah and Georgia lines. A general agent at Savannah could replace a freight agent with expanded authority.

Americus Grocery declares 15 percent dividends

A semi annual dividend of 5 percent was declared by the Americus Grocery Company, making 15 percent for the year from the $100,000 capital stock. Officers re-elected except for C. R. Whitley who declined secretary and treasurer duties. R. L. McMath elected successor. The firm is noted for its strong management and prosperous outlook for next year.
