New Refrigerating Car Demonstrated on Electric Power

A party of electrical experts and reporters traveled aboard the private car Olivette from New York to New Orleans to witness an electric refrigerator car project. The car will be tested in Montgomery Mobile and New Orleans with power generated by its axle. The system would attach to the engine at Birmingham and run to New Orleans. It aims to cut refrigeration costs to about 26 cents per 3,000 miles per car versus 15 to 20 dollars per 1,000 miles under traditional icing.
