The assistant attorney general pressed for a direct yes or no and Stevenson replied yes when asked if he would answer truthfully.
The Americas post office service will cut rural carrier and local office assistant staff for one day. Postmaster Davenport will take ten men to Atlanta for postal school training under government supervision. The 50 percent service reduction is temporary, with possible new hires later. the office handled heavy holiday volume including 10,000 Christmas cards on a single distributing table that day.

In Paris a thief swallowed several skeleton keys seized by police hoping to use them to flee. He developed a stomach ache and a prison doctor used a stomach pump to remove the keys. He remains in jail.

Cordele January 16. The town’s earliest residence, built in 1888 by Captain L J McRae who died last year in McRae, Ga, is being torn down from a Seventh Street block to make way for a gasoline filling station. The house predated gasoline vehicles by decades.
