New York January 9 The home of Joseph Pulitzer proprietor of the New York World in East Fifty Fifth Street was burned with at least one life lost. The body of the house keeper Mrs Jellett was found burned. Governess Miss Elizabeth Montgomery is missing and may have perished. Mrs Pulitzer and her children escaped with the nurse and baby. Firefighters and servants escaped via window ledges. The house contained a valuable historical library and art works. Total loss estimated at 300000 dollars.
