Election of Bemti Paid Fire Department Chief Reported

City fire committee adopted a plan for a paid department with chief Stanfield as chief candidate and four regular firemen. The proposal includes an assistant chief, six or more supernumeraries, hourly pay for extras, and required uniforms. A trip to Atlanta to consult with Chief Joyner was approved. The report notes that a paid department is preferred over the current volunteer system.

The Vote for Grover le Cast by the Electors at the Capital

The electoral college at Atlanta yesterday cast Georgia for Cleveland. Dick Grabb was elected messenger to deliver the certificate to Washington, with Hon. Frank Flynt as permanent chairman. Members receive daily pay and mileage allowances. totals show Secretary at eight dollars and several members drawing varying sums, including Mr Crabb and Mr McCook.

New York Judge Grants Attachment in Richmond and Danville suit

Receivers F. W. Hulde koper and Reuben Foster obtained from Judge Brien of the supreme court an attachment against Central Railroad and Banking Company of Georgia in a suit to recover 1 213 404 for money spent on the defendant's mortgage bonds and other debts between December 1801 and April 1 1802. Also reports Macon firm W J Coddahan dry goods filed a deed of assignment for creditors valued around 40 000 liabilities near 55 000 to 60 000 assets.

City Council Moves to Uniformed Police and New Purchasing Committee

Americus council last night adopted a plan to uniform city police at city expense, providing two suits per officer with belting and eventually summer uniforms.
