Macon January 3 Ten victims of the Central of Georgia Dixie Flyer wreck at Rivoli remain in Macon hospitals. Others injured departed the city en route. Those hospitalized are not thought seriously injured but are under surveillance for possible internal injuries.
Washington Jan 3 investigation into Upshaw charges that governors and many officials fail to practice prohibition enforcement was urged by Representative Hill of Maryland in a resolution. The measure calls for a formal inquiry into enforcement gaps and leadership conduct across states.
Funeral services for Mrs Nettie Scott Daniel age 50 were held Tuesday at 11 at Enterprise Methodist church near Parrott with Rev Charles A Phillips of Oglethorpe presiding. Interment was in the church cemetery. She is survived by husband B Daniel two sons Roswell of Columbus and Paul of Parrott two daughters Lucy Grace and Linda at home and pallbearers included Lamb Kennedy Ads Bridges Frank Ivey Williford Oxford John Allen and W F McLeod. Death due to pneumonia followed a brief illness, the community noting her many fine traits and generous floral tributes.
The American Cotton association announced a two phase campaign to eradicate the boll weevil in the South with a $2.5 million fund. Headquarters will be in Atlanta as education and independent research efforts mobilize farmers, manufacturers, and scientists nationwide to protect the 1923 cotton crop and global textile supply.

The public opening of the A. and M. college indoor court features a return game between Leesburg aggregation and the Aggie Invincibles tonight at 7. The Aggies, boasting recent wins including a 17 to 14 victory at Leesburg, are noted for strong play and lead among local teams.
Chief Bragg tells the Times-Recorder the holiday period had the quietest season for arrests in years with very few violations for disorderly conduct or drunkenness reported. The holiday makers departed without incident and were asked to leave as needed.
Paris January 3 British Premier Bonar Law aboard a distressed cabinet council urged Poincare to back the French reparations plan as the minimum acceptable in talks. If rejected, Poincare would request formal Allies’ lack of agreement. Britain would abandon Versailles terms if French still refuses.
At a second afternoon meeting in Paris Premier Poincare chaired the talks as Prime Minister Bonar Law showed distress. Ambassadors and experts waited in adjoining rooms while delegates faced a tense, non cheerful atmosphere during the Allied conference.
Washington January 8 President Harding vetoed the Barusum bill providing for higher pensions for Civil and Mexican War veterans claiming the proposal would raise government spending and describe the measure as heedless and as loose provision for pensioning widows.
Washington January 3 The agricultural appropriation bill carrying 68 981 553 dollars passed the House after Speaker defeated a point of order aimed to return it to committee with instructions to add 360 000 for congressional seed distribution.
Columbus police investigate robbery at Key Townsend Grocery. Masked bandits entered last night and stole the cash box containing 1260 dollars before fleeing. Local authorities pursue leads as evidence and suspect accounts are being reviewed.
