Exploding Boiler Wrecks Steamboat T. H. Bacon

The steamboat T. H. Bacon was wrecked by a boiler explosion on the Tennessee river below Loudon. Estil Hudgins, assistant engineer, was killed, with passenger Robert Bird wounded and engineer Albert Claiborne seriously hurt. A deck hand named Cook, Smith was also injured. The blast forced the boiler through the rear, causing a second explosion in the water. The vessel ran between London and Kingston, Tennessee.

Rochester, N Y Feb 26 A head-on collision on the Auburn branch of the New York Central near Aurelius left seven trainmen dead, two seriously injured and two missing. A westbound passenger train struck a steam derrick running from Canandaigua to Syracuse. Both engines wrecked. crew blamed for the crash. No passengers harmed.

Gas Explosion Destroys Kokomo Home Killing Eight Women

In Kokomo Indiana a natural gas blast wrecked a home owned by Mrs Harriet Achey burying Mrs Achey Miss Ida Achey and Mrs Blanche Barrington. They were fatally injured with severe burns. Frank Wyatt a Panhandle brakeman rescued the women from the flames and was injured. A second explosion followed, and two firemen escaped unharmed.
