Wreck at Hampton Street crossing halts rail traffic

A collision at the Hampton Street crossing of the SA&M railroad left two engines badly damaged and several freight cars splintered. Engine 124, weighing eighty five tons, was derailed and moved to repairs at company shops. Engineers Byrd and Strode were involved. Strode was bruised but not seriously hurt.
