Wonderful Corp A J Mercer of Burden Kansas found a sealed jar in a farm mound containing corn seeds and relics. The ear length and grain size differ from modern corn, with six inch ears and grains about a quarter of typical size. Mercer planted two quarts, the crop thrived, and the mound features suggest great age with trees over 200 years old and relics akin to Indiana and Ohio mounds.

Bold Burglars Stage Large Theft in Americus
A bold burglary in the southeastern Americus suburb targeted merchant L. D. Bosworth at 201 Felder Street. About 6200 in goods vanished as burglars took nearly every item, including barrels of coffee sugar flour and a cigar case, after crawling beneath the building and boring through flooring.
