Bold attempt to wreck Central train at Muckalee bridge

A Central passenger train on the way to Americus was targeted at Muckalee creek trestle two miles below Americus. A tie wired to derail the train was struck, the engine damaged but no deaths or injuries occurred. Negro John Hodges, discharged Central section hand, was captured at the scene amid conflicting accounts.
