A telegraph report states forces led by General Coresins defeated at Spala, capturing liberty for Caba. The clash with Lopez Cemor Columa left 60 killed and 12 wounded.
The Ecuadorian president sent a December letter to the Queen Regent of Spain urging peaceful action in Cuba and proposing independence for Cuba as a path to justice. The document was published showing Ecuador’s loyal friendship and desire for a prudent, wise resolution with Spain.
