Ellaville Ga February 16 report notes the sudden death of J F Woods in Americus and funeral held by Masons. Mentions family survivors, travel to Atlanta and Americus, visits by local residents, and community notices including a stockholders meeting for the Columbus Baseball Association with a capital increase.
Mrs J H Randall hosted the younger set while Prof J T Brinkley hosted schoolchildren on St Valentine’s Eve. Rev W C Glenn led a missionary Institute from Wednesday to Sunday. Sermons by Rev O B Chester appealed to locals. Several residents took trips to Americus and New Orleans for visits and Mardi Gras. A funeral for Harris Ware was attended in Leesburg, and a party of women spent a day in Americus. Mrs S E Bass departed for Baltimore to buy spring millinery.
Mr White of the Agricultural College in Americus lectured in Leslie. Choir practice at the Baptist church. Mr J L Amason and Lucius Harvey hosted visitors. Baraca and Philathea class met. Floyd Hines recovering from illness. Rev Shingler preached at the Baptist church. Mrs F A Wilson visited Andrew College. Walter Wade home from McRae. A T Johnson improving. John Summerford visited. J J Wilson and wife visited. Blanche Pryor seen with friends. Prof Wells of Huntington visited the school.
Plains Ga February 12 Dr B T Wise died at his home Saturday morning after an illness of a week with pneumonia. He was beloved in Plains and across the region for his untiring care of the sick. He is survived by his wife and three sons, with funeral services held at the Lutheran church and burial with Masonic honors at Lebanon cemetery. Dr Wise Jr will return to Plains to reside. Many relatives and citizens attended and mourn his loss.
All subscription accounts past due for two years or more will be placed in the hands of an attorney for collection if not settled within the next ten days. Statements are being mailed to all such delinquents and prompt settlements are requested to avoid the necessity of placing accounts in the hands of the Justice for collection.
Miss Maggie Wells of Bronwood spent Saturday with Mrs D I Hite. Alfred Davidson of Dawson visited relatives in Plains. Anna Markett left for Douglass to see her son Fred. Nina Carter returned from Albany to visit W D Fleming family. Ross Dean went to Renfro to visit kin. Warren Hill Jr of Greenville spent the weekend with Leonard Jennings. Edmund Oliver visited relatives in Americus. P C Barkley returned from Omaha after a friend's funeral. R F Cato and wife of Americus were guests of the Hudsons. Alice Ruth Timmerman visited friends in Americus. T N Coleman left for Gainesville after visiting his daughter. Jeter of Lynchburg Virginia was a recent Plains visitor. Birdshooting at George Montgomery’s country home attracted several from Plains. Lizzie Huckabee returned to Sumter after a ten day visit. Emmett Hanper visited friends in Sasser.
Rev P Flan ders filled his regular appointment at Salem Saturday and Sunday. Mr Murry Griffin and sister Miss Myrtie and Miss Delma Parker spent weekend in Drayton with the former's sister Mrs W H Turlington. Our mail carrier Mr A T Roobinson who had been sick is able to carry mail again. Jesse Griffin returned to Atlanta Saturday after a week here with relatives. Mrs M C Veal and family spent Saturday at Mrs A M Parker's home. Mr J C Bray of near Huntington visits here with his daughters Mesdames R P and W A Parker.

George Brinkley ill with a carbuncle. Tarpley McCarty and Kate Cowart teachers at Rocky Branch visit. Claude Little improving from pneumonia. Floyd Herrington listed sick.
