London reports that the Ottoman delegation at Lausanne agreed to sign all Allied peace terms, with Turks’ reversal communicated to Paris and then to Downing Street. France urged immediate settlement in the interests of all Allies, and Reuters notes a near East treaty could be signed almost immediately.

Turks and Powers Agree on Capitulations

Lausanne Feb 6 The Turkish delegation leader said Turkey and the powers reached accord on judicial capitulations but key financial issues remain unsolved. The Turks plan to depart for Angora tomorrow morning after offers to drop certain economic clauses from the treaty, leaving those items for future talks.

The German government denies mocking its policy of resisting French occupation in the Ruhr and says unanimous German resistance is growing. Court revokes order in Savannah Bank case

Atlanta Feb 6 Judge Bell Fulton Superior Court revoked Friday’s dismissal in the case J E Schwarz vs T R Bennett state superintendent of banks over the American Bank and Trust Co Savannah. The matter involved the right of the state banking department to issue executions against stockholders. A Fulton ruling held part of the banking law unconstitutional and the case moved to the State Supreme Court awaiting decision. Executions were paused pending Supreme Court action.

Big Whisky Seizures Near La Grange Reported

Atlanta Feb 6 Prohibition agents seized a 1000 gallon capacity still 6000 gallons of beer and 300 gallons of corn whiskey near La Grange arresting Jim Freeman and William Tollison. Three officers seized an automobile and 300 quarts of rye whiskey between Conyers and Atlanta. Walter and the driver of the whiskey are held for a hearing.

Trial of Morse Postponed to February Nineteenth

Washington report says Chas W Morse and co defendants charged with conspiracy to defraud the government and Emergency Fleet Corp over wartime shipping contracts worth about forty million dollars. The trial was postponed to Feb 19. Additional notes say the first trial began in DC Supreme Court with Morse, his sons, and eight others as defendants. Benjamin and Harry Morse were arrested at Pennsylvania Station ahead of the Washington proceedings.

Bicycle Thieves Hit Americus Again in Two Week Span

In Americus a wave of bicycle thefts hit multiple businesses and carrier boys from the Times-Recorder last two weeks. Saturday night losses included wheels from Skillman and Mation Young, Bailey Grocery, and Williams-Niles Hardware. A carrier boy J. P. Cannon was robbed mid afternoon. A Black youth rode off with a wheel near the Times-Recorder office and was chased to Plains, where additional items were stolen. He was tried and sentenced to 20 months on the Sumter county chain gang.
