Nine cars of hogs valued around 10 000 dollars sold at Americas Central of Georgia track with 709 hogs delivered by 1 30 pm. About 75 farmers from Sumter and nearby Schley Marion counties participated. Hogs averaged over 200 pounds with many over 400. Swift and Co. bought the lot for its Moultrie packing plant under a guaranteed price not publicly disclosed.

Scouts Rally in Tifton Draws All Day Participation
Tift county Boy Scouts held an all day rally in Tifton with Troops Land 2 and Chula Troup taking part. A camp was pitched on Third street and N W Bagley Jr of Albany led the event with local scout masters. Afternoon contests included rescue races knot tying dressing race water boiling favorite and wall scaling as well as carrying the injured. The rally had been postponed from last Saturday due to weather.

Avalanche buries train in Japan kills 110
Tokyo February 4. An avalanche buried a railway train at Stoigwa station in Nagano prefecture killing 110 people and injuring many others. The victims were mostly farmers, laborers, and railway workers trapped while clearing snow. Medical relief has been dispatched from Nagano to the scene.
