Mr. J Hagerty general manager of the Americus Railway and Light Co left yesterday for Atlanta to place orders for plant equipment for the power plant to be installed here. Orders are placed through northern and eastern manufacturers with Southern offices in Atlanta. Work on the electric plant will begin with the new year and preparations are under way. President Walker of the new company is expected to arrive daily from Pittsburgh to direct construction. Other staff are awaiting orders and dirt breaking is planned for the first week in January as the $260000 project moves toward completion.
Mrs Capr Itola Woods seeks divorce alleging torture and inhuman treatment while confined at Milledgeville Insane Asylum in Georgia. She contends she was sane when admitted and disputes the institution's care.
Mrs W C Mills, 23, wife of W Mills of Balson, daughter of Col G C Webb and R K Webb Jr, died after a few days of lagrippe. Survived by husband, month-old babe, parents, a brother and three sisters. In Albany Georgia on December 18 Special report says Deputy George Johnson confronted by two Black prisoner inmates in Camilla jail corridor. Johnson struck with a beer bottle and choked, toppled to the floor. The door was forced open and he was rescued as the prisoners aimed to seize keys. The incident described amid tense prison unrest.
