Swain 27 owner of an auto rental agency shot and killed J Walter Johnston 17 on a downtown street after leaping into a running car to pursue his estranged wife Myrtle Swain 17. Four shots later Mrs Swain was wounded and her mother Mrs W F Gregory was shot in the arm though she survived. Swain then shot himself but the shells failed to explode. Johnston was to be married today to Virginia Fowler. Sheriff deputies said there may be further arrests and Swain blamed his mother in law for the motive stating he planned the act for four weeks.
