Judge Fish appointed President Hawkins as temporary receiver after northern banks moved to press claims on the Savannah Americus and Montgomery railroad. The order aims to protect the employer and local creditors while deferring semiannual interest payments and consolidating earnings for salaries and unsecured debts. Net revenues exceed current expenses and earnings are expected to rise, stabilizing finances and keeping revenues local.
