Riot in Perth Amboy as Klansmen attacked after meeting

In Perth Amboy New Jersey clashes erupted when Klansmen fled Odd Fellows hall pursued by mobs and firemen. About 100 injured in the earlier attack on the Klansmen and subsequent street fighting left several hospitalized. Police said many assailants came from nearby towns and cities. No further trouble is expected.

Rotary clubs win silver loving cup at intercity meet

Macon Rotarians hosted guests from NVCON and other clubs at Windsor banquet noting the silver loving cup honors based on attendance miles traveled and Rotary message quality. Forty two Macon members arrived at 2 14 private car. Delegations from Columbus Quitman Albany Moultrie Americus attended with Valdosta and Thomasville unable due to bad roads. A crowded Country club hosted golf games and a diving contest at the Playground led by Miss Jewel Lane with several prizes awarded.

Young Stribling Seeks September Fights in Georgia and Rome

Macon reports Middleweight champion Young Stribling, recovering from a broken right arm, will fight September 10 in Miami against either Jack Middleton or Sailor Martin. An additional bout is planned for September 13 in Rome, Ga against Jimmy Conway. Columbus August 31 A liquor raid by federal agent G R Kincaid and five officials located three stills in Harris county two 400 gallon units and one 250 gallon unit All were destroyed About 2000 gallons of beer and seven or eight gallons of whisky were poured A small motor truck was seized and three men arrested.

Mrs. Vaiden winner in knitting contest

Augusta August 31 Mrs Dora Vaiden of this city was announced as the first prize winner for Georgia and $100 in cash in a national knitting contest conducted by a large yarn company. Miss Vaiden designed a white sweater set called Miss Dixie for her entry.

Sumter Deputy in Serious Condition Near Sale City

Cy Carey, a Sumter county deputy sheriff, is in serious condition at Sale City after a recent official trip. His sister left Americus to be at his bedside and he will be moved to Americus when possible. Deputy Garey was en route to Sale City on a mission for farmer Will Bradley. that day he was found beside his car in a bog near Sale City with evidence of attempting to free it. Authorities believe overheating contributed to Carey’s condition. Carey's relatives and Sheriff Harvey’s office are coordinating care as his status remains critical. Carey, about forty, is a longtime Sumter official trusted in local courts and the sheriff’s office.

Employee Hurt After Falling From Car at Loving Station

C Williams, a Loving filling station employee at Church and Leestret, fell from a car early today as it stopped short. He sustained a dislocated finger and a head bump but was not seriously hurt. he returned to work after medical care and recalled an earlier incident.
